The most successful retailers will tell you retail is about doing the basics consistently well. Whilst there are new trends such as experiential marketing, shopper marketing, path to purchase and so on, these are the interpretations of the basics.
The study undertaken by Stratejee, an STW partner of HOED, says Retailers should increase their focus on these basics as consumer confidence and spending weakens. The Journal explores the five basic steps of retail sales, talks to some of the best, looks at the key trends and presents some of the study's findings of NSW stores. A variety of Retail segments including Travel Agents, Telecoms, Banks, Fashion and Apparel, Homewares and Electronics are reviewed with the most admired retailers identified. While the study identifies outstanding elements of retail it says that few of the retailers put all five stages together well.
