Question: I am having difficulty when submitting my work on line. If I am online for an extended time my computer can not find the server and I loose all the work that I have written.
Answer: You are being disconnected whilst doing the data entry because most dial up connections, by default, will time out after 20 minutes inactivity. Whilst you are doing the data entry no traffic is being generated so your connection times out. Check the settings in your dial up connection and increas the time out preriod.
If you don't know how to do this then open your browser twice and call up another web site on one every few minutes, whilst doing data entry on the other. This will ensure that data is transmitted every few minutes and prevent your connection from timing out.
Question: I am unable to download my jobs for this month. I keep getting a message saying that there is an unspecified error. If the problem persists please contact Hoed.
Answer: Your browser security setting is rejecting cookies. This site sets a cookie to establish a data entry session. The cookie expires when the session is ended, so in order to complete data entry you will need to be using a browser that supports cookies (and is accepting them), as well as having the correct date and time set.
Question: How do I enable cookies?
Answer: To accept cookies using MS Internet Explorer
Open Edit > Preferences... (or Tools > Internet options...). Scroll down the list until you find the cookie preferences, set the option to "Accept all cookies". (Different versions of browser may vary slightly in wording and menu options, refer to the browser documentation for more information).
Question: I have accessed my assignments but I am unable to open the instructions. When I click on the instructions link my computer just beeps at me. Can you please advise?
Answer: To facilitate printing, the instruction sheet now opens in a new window. You have anti pop up software installed on your computer which is preventing the window from opening. Disable the anti pop up software or add Hoed to the white list.
NB This site is optimised for Internet Explorer and if you are using Netscape you may experience problems eg black lines or patches. It is strongly recommended that data entry only be attempted using Internet Explorer V4.0 or higher.
